We recommend you bring your child for some visits prior to their start date in order to familiarise themselves with the setting and staff. This is also a great opportunity to meet your child’s keyworker and to complete the required paperwork. A parent/carer must remain with them during this visit.
Please contact Nicola Hobdell on Swindon 527678 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange a suitable date.
Your Child’s First Day
Please could you arrive either at 09.00 am on the first morning/ all day session or 12.00 pm if you start with an afternoon session. You are of course welcome to stay until you feel your child is settled. The staff will work with you to ensure your child feels comfortable. Each child has a ‘work drawer’ where their artwork, playgroup messages are left for collection. Please remember to check this regularly.
Children need to change into soft soled shoes or slippers when they enter the setting, particularly in the wet winter months. Outdoor shoes and coats can be stored on the named pegs outside the playroom. Please encourage them to identify and use their own peg. We do advise that children do not wear ‘best clothing’ as it can sometimes get marked with paint or glue. Please bring a named bag with a full change of clothing including pants and socks.
If your child is starting at 12pm or attending a full day you will need to provide a healthy lunch box and a drink of water.
Our Treasure Box is a very special part of the children’s day. Your child can bring in ANYTHING from home, a comfort teddy, a picture they have created or a book….the list is endless! They can share this with their key worker or with the rest of the group. The treasure is handed out at the end of each session.
